Annual Report for 2009
The Conservancy reluctantly shifted its focus from Land Preservation due to a lack of a revenue stream to support TDR’s. Generating a revenue stream for Chattahoochee Hills will be addressed in the near future. We continued to do good works and stay in the public eye by such projects as landscaping the City Hall of Chattahoochee Hills. The existing shrubs were overgrown and included invasive species (privet). Esther Stokes developed a landscaping plan (pro bono). people in the community donated money for plants and irrigation. People in the community plowed and enriched the soil and had a gratifying morning in the Fall planting new shrubs and trees. The Conservancy continued to work closely with the City and the Civic Association on issues that determine the quality of life for residents of the Hill Country. We began the process of enlarging the Board and planned to make 2010 a year of significant and positive change beginning with the January 2010 Annual Meeting. Priorities for 2010 include education about conservation, parks and trails, agriculture, expanding the Board and contributing to the development of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan for the City of Chattahoochee Hills.
Annual Report for 2008
This was a year of transition for the Conservancy. Due to the impact of the Recession on our revenues, we reluctantly eliminated the position of Executive Director and closed our office. It was a sad day when we say “Good bye and best wishes” to Christine McCauley, who had led our staff and has so much knowledge of TDR’s. The Board members who lived in Atlanta voluntarily resigned and elected new Board comprised of members who reside in CHC. This change made it more convenient for the Chair to be available to participate in local civic affairs and collaborating with the Alliance including participation in the Zoning Task Force. We co-sponsored the BUY OUR PARKS NOW Campaign to raise money ($250,000) to enable Chattahoochee Hills to purchase park lands owned by Fulton County.
