The City of Chattahoochee Hills is required to develop a Comprehensive Land Use Plan by January 2011. The planning process includes various stakeholders, public forums and cooperation with the Atlanta Regional Commission. New Zoning Ordinances will accompany the final plan. This effort will replace the 2005 Fulton County Overlay Plan which is described in various places in this web site. The Overlay Plan predates the incorporation of the City of Chattahoochee Hills. Development of the Comp Plan will again rally citizens to make their vision a reality.

Under the sponsorship of the Chattahoochee Hill Country Conservancy, a new landscaping plan is in the process of replacing overgrown shrubs, invasive species and worn concrete. The old has been removed, prompting one observer to say, "It looks better already." The old tree stumps are being ground out. The soil in the planting areas is being tilled and enhanced with organic material. New steps and a handicap access ramp is under construction for the Library. And new trees and shrubs are arriving at the staging area.
Saturday, November 21 at 9 AM, volunteers from all parts of the City of Chattahoochee Hills will plant the new plants. A drip irrigation system will be installed in the Spring 2010. Donations for plants given in honor of special people and groups can be made to the CHC Conservancy at 6505-A Rico Road, Chattahoochee Hills, GA 30268.

The trees in the Chattahoochee Hill Country are a treasured natural resource, adding to our rural landscape and removing thousands of tons of pollutants from the air each year. The City of Chattahoochee Hills may have more trees than any other city in Georgia (we are working to confirm this). We gather to celebrate trees with the planting of a new tree on Arbor Day each February.
